Freemake Devs Answer 5 Hot Questions

Freemake Answers your QuestionsEach day we receive tons of questions from our users, most of them are responded on our support page. Some folks may think that we bypass thorny questions about privacy, lapsed updates and new software releases. In fact, this is not true. We have nothing to hide and are always open for discussion. Therefore, we assembled all hot questions you ask us and addressed them to our developers. Find the answers below.

Why wouldn’t you add this feature or this and those…?

Guys, on average, we get about 100 feature suggestions daily. Don’t get me wrong, we do appreciate and love people writing to us, but usually people are just driven by their personal need and they think if we integrate that “exact feature”, the product would benefit. Not so, my dear friends. We, at Freemake, think carefully what to add/change, etc. If we didn’t, Freemake would lose its simplicity, character and style.

We didn’t see major updates for Freemake for 3 months, why so?

Because of many factors. You see the front side only, the end product or release. At backstage, where we are, Freemake people, we have to face various challenges like team members coming in and out, job positions changed, business partners rotation, funds search, etc., etc. And some of us need to take a break, sometimes, understandable, isn’t it?

Why does Freemake software connect to the Internet? That’s suspicious!

Firstly, Freemake software checks for updates via the Internet. We release a lot of minor releases with bug fixes, therefore, you have an automatic option to have an up-to-date versions. Secondly, if you agree to send us stats on any errors or software malfunctions, our stats server Freemake Improver needs to refresh its parameters and send information about your errors. Via the Internet as well. We understand your concern about any information reporting, but we guarantee, assure, promise and officially claim that we generate tech information only! How else we can prove it? We DON’T need your personal info. If you refuse from sending stats on crashes, don’t complain on software failure in some specific cases because it’s absolutely impossible to foresee and find issues when we speak about billions of processed video/audio files.

Will we ever see Mac version of Freemake?

Tough issue. It will require the creation of a new product from scratch including new design and UI, feature list and technologies support. A LOT of time and work, and most importantly, no guarantee we’ll get that exact Freemake loved by millions, not something different. To make something unprofessional within short term or be one of alike converter clones for MAC is not in our standards. We can’t drop the level and quality we’ve taken by now. Therefore, we put it aside for some time.

What’s on the roadmap?

I can’t give any exact dates for specific events. I can only say that we plan to complete everything we announced about Freemake products by the end of the year. Most work will be focused on Freemake Video Converter, Freemake Music Box and Freemake Video Downloader. Something is already done in-house and is waiting for its glorious moment.

Are you planning new software, video player or video editor, for example?

Not now. We see bigger potential for mobile apps. iPhone, iPad and Android are interesting for us as platforms for making our music app there. Besides, we’d like to launch a fully featured free music service with the support for mobile, web and desktop apps. And see how it goes. We are still on the road to make our converter and downloader a solid #1 in their categories in the world, so we need to complete this task.

What would you wish for your 2 nd Birthday?

We would want to see more gratitude and understanding among people towards us, creators of Freemake. More support and patience, less suspicion. People still tend to think that Freemake is inevitably malfunctioned, contains viruses or created to collect personal information. When we read it on Facebook or in online forums, it hurts us. We are really doing our best and some of us work around the clock to make Freemake live longer and bring value to your life, your better life.
